I found a brief notice about a new goby control method being developed on the website of Ontario radio station CD98.9 (of all places).
Scientists at the University of Windsor and the Ministry of Natural Resources are working on a new goby trap. It would lure female gobies by using a new time-release tablet laced with the scent of male goby urine. The research project is expected to take between 3 and 5 years to complete.
One astounding fact from the article: "There are 10 billion gobies in Western Lake Erie alone."

I am way off topic but it snowed 26" in many places in the UP today this should really help the water levels up there hopefully, we'll see over the next few months. I only mention it because I know we've talked about this on many occasions.

I'm interested to see if this trap works, maybe it would work with other invasive species if it works with the golby.

The U.P. snow is incredible news for April 1! It sure has to help Lake Superior water levels.
The goby traps sound a lot like methods used for lampreys on the St Mary's river. See my earlier post http://www.greatlakesforall.com/2007/10/hitting-lamprey.html
